D-SLR Sensor / Image chip or CCD (Charge Coupled Device)

Here you see the sensor fitted in the camera chassis and a shot from the front. The actual opening is protected by a glass plate. The different electrical connections which are required to control and read out the picture information are fed through
a flexible multi-pin circuit board on top and bottom of the chip.
